In addition to releasing several Best TV Shows at the beginning of each month, Amazon Prime Video does not have a ton of new weekly releases. But sometimes, Amazon gives a real knock that deserves to appear on your radar. Below you will find this week’s highlights.
Amazon Prime Video original Best TV shows
The Expanse (2015-) Best TV Shows
Amazon saved The Expanse from the realm of canceled TV, bringing us six seasons. Thank God this happened, because The Expanse is a smart sci-fi with realistic character, high productivity values and a hint of spy noise. Set in a future where humanity has colonized the solar system, a conspiracy threatens to start a Cold War between the major powers. A band of anti-heroes finds itself at the center. Stay tuned for the best Western themes in later seasons.
Tales from the Loop (2020-) 10 Best TV Shows
Not just another show about a small town where weird things happen, there’s a lot below the surface of Tales from the Loop. Drawing from a fictional art book by Swedish artist Simon Stalin Hogg, the series is amazing to look at, as can be the case with coherent frames. Light and space are affected by a painting feeling. The people of the interconnected city are similarly narcissistic, their stories exploring loneliness, aging, the effects of technology and more through sci-fi ideas.
The Feed (2019) Top 10 Best TV Shows
Black mirror vibes are strong in this British series about the wrong technology. The Fed is set up in Future London, where a family develops an implant that allows people to live their lives without having to press a button on the phone. No, there is nothing wrong with that! Some pretty impressive actors, including David Thales and Michelle Fairley, pulled the cast out. While it’s not as polished or deep-cut as the Black Mirror, it’s still worth a look – just grab your phone during low-grip sections.
Sneaky Pete (2015-2019) Best TV Shows to Watch on Prime Video
The Wilds (2020-) Top 10 Best TV Shows to Watch
Amazon’s first original young adult offering is an interesting combination of Lost and the Breakfast Club – and it works. Importantly, the cast of characters who find themselves trapped on a deserted island are all teenage girls. For them, it makes life even more miserable. Everyone’s background is very different – from a spoiled rich girl to a Native American – but to survive they have to put aside their differences, learn a thing or two about themselves along the way. Things get even darker and more thrilling when Rachel Griffiths’ Gretchen Klein is pictured as the head of the secret Dawn of Eve program.

The Underground Railroad (2021-)
Outstanding filmmaker Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) has adapted Colson Whitehead’s novel The Underground Railroad into a powerful 10-episode series. Set in South America during the 1800’s, the legendary story follows an attempt by blacks to escape slavery through a network of hidden tracks and tunnels. The magical realism and tapping of a great cast, including Thiso Embedo and William Jackson Harper, the Underground Railroad is an emotional and refreshing victory.

His name is Terrorism, a super villain in his city’s underworld. If you want to sit back and watch pure superhero entertainment, you have found the right show.
