StarTech Laptop Bag Review

The StarTech Laptop Bag looks like a laptop bag designed with the IT professional in mind. It offers plenty of room for a laptop and tablet, plenty of interior space for whatever extra gear you might need for the day, and a removable, dedicated accessory case. Overall, this bag seems to be the perfect bag for those working in the IT world.

First impression

At first glance, we agreed that the bag was sturdy, well-made, and like it could hold quite a bit. With a convenient, large zipper plus, the zipper is made to last. The StarTech laptop backpack sits upright with zero issues, whereas most backpacks tend to collapse if positioned well. The pockets are well organized, and the accessory case is useful for carrying cables. External storageor other small gadgets.

Design and build quality

The StarTech laptop bag has features and small pockets in every part of the bag. So, to fully explain the elements, we’ll break down each part of the bag into the next part.

The material used for this bag is 1680D ballistic nylon, which not only allows for strong drop protection but is also extremely durable. The particular model we tested is a 15.6″ laptop model; however, we found that if the device being stored is smaller than about 13″, the computer can fit into a laptop sleeve in plenty of space. Might seem a little too small.

In use

After using this bag for a week, we got to see what makes this bag great, since IT workers are usually the ones who carry more than an ultrabook or featherweight laptop. go (eg Dynabook Portégé X30L-K). Typically, such users have a slightly larger device like a tablet, loads of cables and more. Because of this, we found it ideal for this bag to have wide straps, which help disperse the weight of the bag. We also quickly learned to appreciate the pack’s flat base, which allowed us to not worry about our beloved tech falling over.

Another thing we quickly fell in love with were the dedicated compartments:

This large portion can fit almost everything we need throughout the week. We can quickly load up a notebook, a light jacket, headphones and snacks for our day. It was a pouch to put anything we had, with two zippered sections creating a small pocket for small items, a small open pocket, and a place to hang a key, tracker, or the like.

This section has several elastic bands that help hold anything from cables to pens, adapters, etc. The zippered compartment can also be used to store any loose items. We were able to use it to hold a few pens, a USB-C hub for quick and easy access, and a multi-tool.

Velvet lined pocket

This section is very clearly designed to hold glasses or any other item you want to keep safe in the velvet lined pocket. Some days we chose to keep a pair of sunglasses in this pouch, however, we found the pocket ideal for carrying a pair of earbuds in our wireless charging case on other days, knowing that they’d be on the other side. Won’t knock with. Items in our bag.

This section is a fully removable carrying case measuring 10.5 x 5.25 x 3 inches and sports a customizable interior and zip-off top. It can be completely removed from the bag by opening the bottom flap on the bag. Thanks to the customization on the inside, we can modify the case to fit a carrying case for a full-sized mouse, external storage, extra headphones, webcam, hubs, and more. It’s an impressively versatile case, as the top flap also zips open to open the inside of the pouch with an elastic band, creating a customizable storage experience that easily holds a few cables, flash drives or small dongles. can fit

A bottle holder

This section is pretty self-explanatory – it’s a side pocket that holds bottles or anything else one might want to put in it. It has an elastic band around the top, which helps to store whatever can be stored inside.

This section is purposely designed to hold a phone or anything else you want to keep in sight while carrying your bag. It can unzip for expansion, allowing a larger phone (like the iPhone 13 Pro Max we tested it with) to fit, but then if not in use, It can be added.

Final decision

The StarTech Laptop Backpack is a great option for people who often carry a lot of tech from place to place. If you’re looking for a bag that doesn’t have to be thin and you care about how much stuff you can carry, this is the ideal bag for you. It’s comfortable, holds your items securely, and will last a long time – and as a bonus, it’s also airport checkpoint-friendly and has a luggage strap, which Makes travel more accessible.
