In addition to releasing several TV shows at the beginning of each month, Amazon Prime Video does not have a ton of new weekly releases. But sometimes, Amazon gives a real knock that deserves to appear on your radar. Below you will find highlights of this week,

Prime Video: The 10 Best TV Shows to Watch

Best Amazon Prime Video original TV shows

The Wilds (2020-) Best TV Shows

Amazon’s first original young adult offering is an interesting combination of Lost and the Breakfast Club – and it works. Importantly, the cast of characters who find themselves trapped on a deserted island are all teenage girls. For them, it makes life even more miserable. Everyone’s background is very different – from a spoiled rich girl to a Native American – but to survive they have to put aside their differences, learn a thing or two about themselves along the way. Things get even darker and more thrilling when Rachel Griffiths’ Gretchen Klein is pictured as the head of the secret Dawn of Eve program.

A Very British Scandal (2022) Best TV Shows

Drawing on three-hour episodes, A Very British Scandal dramatizes the famous, real-life divorce between the Duke and Duchess of Argyll in the 1960s. Starring Claire Foy of Netflix’s The Crown, and Paul Bettany of WandaVision, it covers everything from the couple’s first meeting to their court appearance. Escape to this charming retail, which includes the determined performances of Foy and Bettany.

As We See It (2022-) 10 Best TV Shows

A new entry in Prime Video, as we see it has found a place in its best shows. Consisting of three actors identified as autistic, this sincere series follows young adults on the autism spectrum as they go to work, make friends and find love. Neurotypical actors usually play autistic roles on screen, so the casting separates them. It’s also charming, funny and exciting, with well rounded characters that you’d like to connect with. I let the show’s shining metacritic score speak for itself – but whatever convinces you, it needs to be your next watch.

Picnic at Hanging Rock (2018) The 10 Best TV Shows

This TV version of Picnic at Hanging Rock is not a masterpiece like the film adaptation of the 1975 classic Australian novel. But it’s just as mysterious, covering up a dreamy but terrifying disappearance in an isolated bush in Australia. When the three students and their rule disappear after a picnic in the Rock Area, hysteria spreads in the community and at the prestigious Apple Yard College, led by Natalie Dormer’s powerful headmistress. Dark secrets emerge, holding you to the end.

The Underground Railroad (2021-) The 10 Best TV Shows to Watch

Outstanding filmmaker Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) has adapted Colson Whitehead’s novel The Underground Railroad into a powerful 10-episode series. Set in South America during the 1800’s, the legendary story follows an attempt by blacks to escape slavery through a network of hidden tracks and tunnels. The magical realism and tapping of a great cast, including Thiso Embedo and William Jackson Harper, the Underground Railroad is an emotional and refreshing victory.

Informer (2018) Prime Video: The 10 Best TV Shows to Watch

This British capture series is, yes, about an informant and a dangerous area involved in forcing someone to take a dangerous gig. Paddy Considine (who now has a glimpse into the prequel to Game of Thrones) is working as DS Gabe Waters, a counterterrorism officer assigned to infiltrate the far-right movement in West Yorkshire. In partnership with DC Holly Morton, a young and inquisitive man, with an excellent Bell Pauley (The Morning Show, King of Staten Island), he provided British Pakistani Raza (Nabhan Rizwan) with information about a possible terrorist attack. Tries to lift A provocative thriller that will keep you on your toes.

The Last Tycoon (2016-2017)

Matt Boomer, Lily Collins, and Kelsey Grammar star in this 1930s drama about a brilliant Hollywood executive. Self-proclaimed producer Monroe Stahr (Boomer) is constantly struggling with the head of the studio, Pete Brady (Grammar). The series takes an interesting angle, exploring the influence of the Nazis and the German market on Hollywood politics in a war-torn world. The Last Tycoon is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s last book, published incompletely and posthumously, inspired by Irving Thalberg, the famous producer known as The Boy Wonder in the early 1900s. Focused on great acting, great looks, and captivating characters, The Last Tycoon ended soon after a season.

The Collection (2016)

If you like your fashion and historical drama, the collection fits together perfectly. Set in Paris after World War II, the eight-part series follows two business brothers who fight each other while building their fashion empires. Hostility, treachery, and Nazi occupation are the provocative elements that ignite this beautiful family drama. Warning note, once you get caught up in the intriguing layering conspiracies, you will face another season of frustration.

The Boys (2019-)

The Boys attacked Amazon with the most violent story of anti-hero vigilantes to avenge the world’s most beloved superheroes. But these heroes are not what they appear to be: their corporate bosses hide their dubious private lives, including sexual harassment and bizarre murders. With social commentary, black comedy, and pop of gore, The Boys takes a thrilling and unforgivable step beyond family-friendly style.

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams (2017-2018)

Electric Dreams, a sci-fi anthology based on short stories by author Philip Dick, takes viewers into the future in each of its 10 stories. Discovering what it means to be human, the series is full of interesting places, and boasts an impressive roster of stars. In one episode, Richard Maiden and Holiday Granger play a human and a telepathic mutant whose romance heats up as they try to stop the war between their natures. If you need a sci-fi fix, sample an episode from this fantasy series.
